I don't think the WWE should push guys to the moon so much as let them get picked out by the fans and pushed. In the past, guys like Rhyno, Rob Van Dam, Matt Hardy and Christian have all really connected and not gone anywhere because the company didn't feel like they were ideal stars. The same could be said for CM Punk back in 2006.
I've been toying with the philosophy that a talent that is meant to make it will make it. Look at Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison, for example. Morrison came in to the WWE with Tough Enough 3. He should have gone nowhere, but he has instead made his gimmick work for him, and even though he is obviously meant to stir up association with dead rock stars, he's doing pretty fucking well for himself. Ziggler has a ridiculous name, and his gimmick was that he shook hands with people, but he has completely risen above that to become a great character with depth.
I can't really think of anyone struggling that this would really apply to, except for maybe Evan Bourne and MVP. More so Bourne, who really got over in a short time. It seems that Yoshi Tatsu and Zack Ryder are on the way there, too. I'm not saying push these guys to the moon, but don't ruin their credibility.
