Yep, Putz was slated to pitch in a Class-A rehab game tonight...then he was scratched from it out of the blue and is now out for the season. I feel like the Mets are just giving up on rehabbing their players, not that I blame them...but fuck.

David Wright is expected to be back in September...and Beltran is hoping to get some games in before the end, but other than that...nada. The 2009 Mets will really live in infamy I think. Has there ever been a team that has lost their FIVE best players to the DL at the same time (three of them for several months)? The baseball Gods really wanted to make sure the Mets did nothing this year.

And to Boomer - while I'm a little concerned, I am slightly optimistic about Johan because it sounds like and injury he's been pitching through it for a while now...they just figure there is no point in making him push it when they are out of contention. If the Mets were healthy and in the race he'd probably still be in the rotation, ready to put off surgery until after the end of the year, like he did last year.
