Well Villa dominated the first 10 minutes and O'Brien got sent off for wrestling Vassell to the ground when he was the last man. Newcastle then got fairly comfortable with 10 men (Viana came on for Robert and Jenas off for Bowyer).
Vassell had a goal ruled out right before half time for supposedly tripping Aaron Hughes, but to be honest was a bad decision.
Craig Bellamy limped off after about 15 minutes of the second half with a hamstring injury

The game boiled over towards the end, particularly with Hendrie's play acting and targeting of Gary Speed. Given was time wasting all match and got booked in like the last minute. Good point for Newcastle under the circumstances. Villa only had 1 shot on target all match.
