A review of Birmingham Police Department records by The Detroit News indicates officers responded about 6 a.m. Saturday to Cabrera's suburban Detroit home.
The complainant was described as "Rosanna Cabrera." Cabrera's wife is Rosangel Cabrera.
Miguel Cabrera showed up at Comerica Park for Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox with scratches on his face. He and team officials have declined comment.
A neighbor reported she saw officers put a man in one of three police cars in front of Cabrera's home. Records did not immediately indicate whether anyone was charged.
Chief Richard Patterson is expected to make a statement Monday.
