Ok so one is looking at the catch and the other is looking at the runner. Then what? After the play do they get together and discuss it over their synchronized watches?
"I have him making the catch at 6:47 pm."
"Oh that's good because I have him leaving the bag at 6:47 pm as well."
"So he's safe right?"
"Right!"
The ump 3rd made the correct decision to look at the catch while keeping the runner in the peripheral. He just blew the call.
