I dunno, I think they're going to let players walk, but I also think we're seeing a small change in the ownership philosiphy.

Jacobs has always run it as a business, w/ a profit %, and never wanted to win it all and go bankrupt like other teams.

That being said, he saw the end of this season, what a winning team means, playoffs tickets, etc.. and since he owns the fleetcenter and the consecion company, it's a big win/win.

I think they set themselves up to have money to spend, not knowing what the landscape would be after the players/owners settle.

As for a salary cap, yeah, I don't see the players going for it either, but... after a year of no work... I mean, the Jagr's will get some nice bucks in other leagues, but the average player will miss that NHL money... I think the players Crack first...

That being said, I wouldn't be shocked to see 2-4 teams fold...
