Women's wrestling was great in the late 90s and early 2000s. Trish Stratus, Lita, Chyna... they're basically the closest thing the women's division has to Legends. I can see Beth Phoenix being in the same league as those ladies... maybe Melina or even Maryse. Only time can tell. But as for right now, it just isn't good.

Not because they're female wrestlers. But because they're being misused or not used at all.
I think women's wrestling is a lot better overall now than it was in the late 90's and early 2000's. You had Trish, Lita, Molly, and Ivory back then, but that was pretty much the extent of the division. Chyna really only did one angle with Ivory as a Women's Champion. You also had people like The Kat, Miss Jackie, Terrie, and Torrie (Kane's Torrie), Tori (Kidman's Tori), etc. mixing it up when they were terrible.

The reason you can probably look back on it and it seems like it was better is because it wasn't as overexposed as it is now. Women's matches didn't happen every Raw and Smackdown and PPV like they do now. Instead, you had the women in bikini matches and gravy bowl matches and sleep with Al Wilson slap fight matches. So overall, the concept of the division is better in that the women are treated like wrestlers, but most of the women aren't ready to be competing at that level yet week in, week out.
