I think Booker would've been pretty over even without Russo's help. All I know is that I marked out for Harlem Heat in the day. I suppose the title run didn't hurt, either, but I'd pretty much tuned out WCW by that time and didn't check out until a year past the invasion angle. I suspect, though, that Booker in WCW was at the same level as Benoit and Guerrero and didn't need a title to secure his credibilty.

And was Russo the guy resonsible for Rey losing his mask? (This isn't an accusation, I'm just not sure. That single angle killed Rey's push for the rest of his WCW tenure.)
