Anyone who thinks that in today's society in America that gay could possibly mean happy anymore is sadly mistaken. That's a very archaic usage of the term and if I'm not mistaken it's pretty much obsolete in that definition. Shit, about the only time I hear it in the "happy and innocent" meaning anymore is at the end of the Flintstones theme song ("...we'll have a gay old time!")
