It could be good though, he is right. I'd say it has potential as long as they don't try to make it too dark, or too teeny bop like Twilight or that MTV Spiderman cartoon.
The chances are, they'll do one or all of those things.

It could be good if they build the whole thing to be balls to the wall like the comics, and planned it in advance. I wouldn't mind seeing Kingpin and some of the lesser villains showcased. Most of them don't have the depth to carry a movie, but if they're used as henchmen to a larger villain that could work. Plus they could do more in the way of the Sinister Six, The Goblins, Smythe, and eventually the symbiotes.
Planning is good.

As a reboot though, it's way too soon. A Spiderman reboot is fine in concept, and was inevitable. It could do just as well as Batman did, but within 5 years of the previous franchise is ridiculous.
Maybe it will take a long time to get off the ground and the public will grow and appetite/be more open to a new take.
