This is sadly true. But there are always rumours popping up that RVD and the WWE will work together again soon, and if they wanted to end the ECW brand, perhaps having the title come full-circle and ending up on RVD is the way to do it.

Now that he is a "The New Heart and Soul of ECW," Zack Ryder could benefit from feuding with RVD. Perhaps he could even "retire" RVD like he did Tommy Dreamer? It's more the duration RVD would be around, but I'm sure they could find a way to minimalise RVD's work load (even while he was the ECW Champion).
