There still needs to be a balance between long reigns and the back-and-forth reigns. Last time short reigns worked out the best between 2 wrestlers would probably have been the 3 months where The Rock and Mankind switched off as champion since the feud itself was entertaining and brutal to show how determined and equal both wrestlers were to win.

This seems to be more of a RAW than Smackdown problem mostly because of how many "star" main events the show has while they keep neglecting the US title/Intercontinental title as a respectable 2nd tier title for most of those "star" wrestlers.

Instead of making Cena vs Batista as a regular match, they gave Cena the title at Elimination Chamber but he drops it within minutes with Batista's title shot out of no where. All it ended up doing was padding the title stat for Cena and giving Batista a title reign which made the whole Chamber match useless.
