Face it, players hit to hurt. If I have a chance to injure a player with a clean hit than I'm gonna do it. There's no rule in place for hits like Cooke on Savard so it's a clean hit like it or not. You can't suspend a player for a rule which doesn't exist.

There's a difference between finishing a hit and just blasting someone in the head. Of course I finish my checks. I've played hockey all my life too, and still do. The thing is, a hit to the body might hurt, even take your breath away for a moment, but the guy will get up. A hit to the head is dangerous and could easily kill a guy one of these days. Is that what hockey is about? No. Hockey is a rough sport, sure, but you can be rough without beheading a guy.
