Pretty sure 2008 raked in more cash, with Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Indiana Jones.

Also, for my money those 3 are much more satisfying summer blockbusters.

But like has been said, every summer tops the last as far as money is concerned. It's inflation. As for quality, and actual tickets sold, that's another story.
