Well it was Starrcade 96, but the problem with the argument is it was never booked as a Title match. I think it was just assumed. It should of been for the Title, but Piper never mentioned wanting to win the belt during any of the build from what i remmeber.

To answer the original question, there were tons at house shows. I can't remember anything specific though. The belt would always change back before the live TV though.
