He took a one dimensional happy face gimmick, worked to it over, then began to evolve it into a more serious and driven, but still happy face. It's not like they're getting shoved down our throats. WWE's being smart and taking guys who are already over, and pushing them in the mid card in order to reach to a specific demographic.
