There are a lot of moves that beat the lariet. It's not a free walk if you know what to do with it. Abels wheelkick, Cammys Spiral Arrow/Cannon Spike, the Shorykuen, the Tiger Knee/Uppercut, All of Adons moves, Balrogs charging low punches and his jumping headbutt all stop the lariet. They all knock him back across the screen too.

I try not to spam. I could pull of endless German Suplexes to win but I limit it to 2 in a row, then I do something else. That's pretty much my rule for any move, really.
I don't mind get beaten or even double perfect'd as long as it wasn't through spam.
