According to an exclusive report on Comcast SportNet Bay Area,
San Jose Sharks captain
Rob Blake will announce his retirement in the coming days.
The report indicated Blake is waiting until the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Final to make it official and an official announcement is expected early next week. The Sharks declined comment on the report.
Blake has played 1,270 regular games with the
Los Angeles Kings,
Colorado Avalanche and Sharks. Blake was a member of Colorado's 2001 Stanley Cup championship team.
He was named Sharks' captain prior to the 2009-10 season, appearing in 70 games, scoring 7 goals and 23 assists. He had 1 goal and 1 assist in 15 playoff games this spring.
