Pretty puzzling move on the part of the Mariners. I'm guessing their goal is to hope Branyan heats up and then they'll trade him for more than they gave up for him, but I dunno.

Think that Carrera guy was traded to the Mariners from the Mets during the three-way Mets/Mariners/Indians JJ Putz disaster.
