Best 2D platformers/beat em ups of this and previous gen?
I'm just wondering what some of the best and lesser known games from this gen and last gen that fall under the following game examples.

Super Mario/Yoshi's Island series
Sonic
Turtles for NES and the arcade games
Simpsons Arcade Game
Ninja Gaiden for NES
Streets of Rage
Mega Man
Contra
Sunset Riders

I think you're getting what I'm saying. The following games I either have or at least know about:

Yoshi's Island 2
Mega Man 9 and 10
Mega Man Zero
Viewtiful Joe series
The New Super Mario Bros. Games
The Turtles in Time remake
The Bionic Commando remake
Little Big Planet

There are more but they come to mind.

Looking for stuff on PS2, 360, Wii, Gamecube, GBA and DS. Virtual Console/XBLA do count.

So what are some other good examples? Or have I pretty much listed the bulk of them?
