They're definitely not done with him. They probably took the belt off of him so he wouldn't get stale. Plus you can't throw the guy into the title scene without much fanfare and then give him a 6 month reign. Fans won't buy that. But they will buy in when he wins it again because he's built his rep up.
Plus he was incredibly entertaining as champ and that's much more important than win/loss record.
