I don't think it's that easy to make a distinction between Chris Benoit the
person and Chris Benoit the
character. In fact, I'm not even sure if there was a Chris Benoit
character, but if there was he wasn't much different from Benoit the
person. I was there at MSG for WM 20, and when Benoit finally won the Championship I was standing, cheering, and applauding for Benoit the
person.
Anyway, not withstanding the monstrous acts he committed in his final moments, he was one of the greatest in-ring wrestlers. I don't think what he did in his final moments can (or should) completely erase his years of entertaining the fans, though it certainly taints it. I'm giving him a 8 for his contribution to the business.
