Well to be fair, if you're gonna go that route, consoles are generally cheaper than PCs.
True you don't have to buy memory cards and the like, but you have to basically pay a bit of money every few years to make sure your PC's upgraded fine to play the latest games. Even then, you still would have to pay for some other extra items, as most PCs don't come with controllers/microphones/etc
