SCW Shockwave – Week 2

The music plays and the fireworks subside as we are welcomed to the show by Matt Striker and Taz. We have a huge night of action in store as tonight’s show will be headlined with a massive 20 man battle royal. The final 2 participants will have the honor of headlining SCW’s first ever PPV, WrestleFest, for the SCW Title. We’ll also see a continuation of the SCW Tag Title round robin, and much more!

William Regal’s music hits as he and Douglas Williams walk down to the ring. It’s a huge night for this British team, as they’ve gotten off to an 0-1 start to the round robin.

Regal: “What transpired here last week was nothing short of a travesty. Two of the greatest wrestlers in the world were besmirched by a man with fake glasses and another man who looks like a bloody Troll doll!”

The crowd laughs as Williams grabs the mic.

Williams: “You people may all laugh now, but there will be no laughing after tonight. William and myself will win this battle royal tonight, and you’ll all have the privilege of seeing us compete for the SCW Title. But first, we have some business to take care with with these so-called “Young Bucks”.

The Young Bucks run out from the back, and this match is on!

Tag Team Round Robin – William & Williams vs. The Young Bucks
The Young Bucks came out of the gate strong in this match, as they utilized frequent tags in and out. The British duo had a hard time keeping up with the speed of the Bucks. Regal eventually managed to slow down Jeremy Buck with a well-placed knee. Regal and Williams work over Jeremy with a variety of painful submission moves for several minutes as each attempt to tag out is thwarted. Jeremy eventually hits Williams with a hurricanrana and makes the hot tag to Max.

Pier six brawl breaks out with the Bucks dropkicking their opponents a few times. Regal rolls onto the outside as Max gets on all fours in the ring. Jeremy bounces off the ropes and launches himself from off of Max’s back, taking out Regal on the outside. Max gets up and looks at the damage done, but as he takes his eyes off the game, Williams grabs him and connects with his amazing roll-through German suplex, the Chaos Theory. William & Williams pick up the win! Both teams are now 1-1 in the Round Robin.

Backstage, we see Heath Slater with a microphone.

Slater: “OK, I’ll admit it. Last week I was a bit too fired up before I began the Heath Slater Solo Tour. I spent the whole night before drinking and chillin’ with my groupies. But tonight, the One Man Rock Band is ready to go. I’m gonna dominate tonight’s battle royal and solidify my spot at the top of the WrestleFest card. And when I get there, I’m gonna blow…your…mi-”

For the second week in a row, Slater finds himself getting booted right in the face. But this time, it wasn’t Kane. The camera pans back to reveal “The Monster” Abyss! He’ll surely be a force to be reckoned with in tonight’s battle royal.

-----

Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer are out. Archer grabs a microphone.

Archer: “PAY ATTENTION!”

After just those two words, he hands the mic to Hawkins and stands behind him.

Hawkins: “Last week, Vance here and myself took out Edge after his match. We’ve been getting asked all week ‘Why? Why? Why did you do that?’ Well it’s really quite simple. A few years ago, Edge hired me to be in his group. He wasn’t capable of winning on his own. And yet, for years Edge has claimed that he was the one who made Curt Hawkins relevant. What he doesn’t seem to realize is that with or without him, I was going to make a statement.”

Hawkins pauses to allow the jeers to soak in.

Hawkins: “Edge, tonight, you’ll be facing my big backup, Vance Archer. I plan on teaching you a lesson in the very near future, and believe me, you WILL pay attention.”

Vance Archer w/ Curt Hawkins vs. Edge
Edge runs out and the match gets underway. Archer overpowers Edge throughout the early going. Archer breaks out some good power moves in this one including a side slam facebuster and running powerslam, but Edge kicks out at 2 each time. Edge begins mounting a bit of a comeback, both guys trade punches back and forth. Archer with a big punch, Edge begins reeling. Archer charges with a big boot, but Edge ducks. Archer turns around, SPEAR! Edge gets the 3 count and a huge win.

The ref raises Edge’s hand, but the celebration is cut drastically short as he receives a steel chair to the back from Hawkins. Edge writhes in pain as Hawkins drives the chair into his gut a few times. As if that wasn’t enough, Archer gets back to his feet and Hawkins directs him to plant Edge with his inverted DDT. He obliges, and Hawkins heads up top to finish the beating with a top-rope elbow drop. Edge has been left laying for the second straight week by Hawkins and Archer. Could Hawkins really have Edge’s number?

The Hardys are out next, hoping to get in the win column of the Round Robin. Matt gets a microphone.

Matt: “Last week was just a little blip on the radar. My brother here mistimed his move and it left me vulnerable to both opponents.”

Jeff looks at Matt as if to say “what? You’re blaming the loss on me?”

Matt: “BUT IT’S OKAY! Mistakes happen. We still have two more chances to prove ourselves to the SCW audience. Once again, I scouted our opponents this week. I’m not too sure they’re in any condition to compete tonight, so we shouldn’t have many problems. Here, take a look.”

For the second week in a row, a video is shown on the tron featuring what appears to be Matt holding a handheld camera. The video appears to be set in a club somewhere as we see The South Beach Boyz knocking back beverages and tearing up the dance floor with their ridiculous looking moves. Matt provides a running dialogue talking about how they aren’t going to be well-prepared for the Hardys and that as long as Jeff can avoid another miscommunication, they should be fine. We then hear a deep voice yell “HEY!” as the camera quickly turns to reveal two large bouncers walking towards Matt’s general direction. The vid cuts out abruptly.

Matt nods in agreement with his own video as if to say to Jeff “see? We’ll be fine, these guys aren’t prepared”. Jeff looks thoroughly confused and disturbed but before the argument can escalate, the South Beach Boyz’ music hits and they come dancing out to the ring. The Round Robin tag team match is NEXT!

Tag Team Round Robin – The Hardys vs. The South Beach Boyz
The South Beach Boyz hoped to prove that last week’s win over seasoned veterans was no fluke, and victory over the Hardys could have firmly cemented their spots in the SCW Tag Team Title match at WrestleFest. But it was not to be. The Hardys controlled most of the bout as neither Watson nor Young could seem to get anything going. All four guys get some time in the ring before Matt dropkicks Young off the apron, leaving Watson in a two-on-one situation.

With Young on the outside, Matt connects with a Twist of Fate on Watson. He tags in Jeff, who then hits a Swanton Bomb. But before Jeff can cover, Matt quickly tags back in again and adds a top-rope leg drop as the Hardys win. And with that, all four teams in the Tag Team Round Robin have 1-1 records (who’da thunk it?) Matt celebrates getting the pin as Jeff looks slightly annoyed that his brother unnecessarily picked the bones.

-----

WOOOOOOOO! As the Hardys and South Beach Boyz recover in the ring, out comes SCW Commissioner Ric Flair, holding the SCW Title. He takes a seat at ringside before the other 16 battle royal participants come marching out. Each man circles the ring and stops to take a look at the belt. Some of the faces nod to Flair as they pass by, CM Punk just stops and stares at him. Our main event battle royal is NEXT!
