Looking at the past, he's pretty damn lucky, but I still think it's easier to believe he was doing it for the cash rather than for a senate seat.

I'm not even sure they could have reasonably thought that cleaning up their act would benefit her--though according to the news, she's up in the primaries thus far.

Still, it'd be a long way to go for a senate seat that wasn't guaranteed.
