In response to the thread, there wasn't really much else that could be done, other than not making the Alliance guys always look like bitches. In particular DDP, who was one of WCW's top guys, instantly turned into a jobber.

It was a messy situation, I feel inclined to say 'I would have waited to sign other people such as Goldberg, the NWO, Rey Mysterio etc', but looking at how long it took all these people to appear, fans would have probably lost loads of interest in a WCW vs. WWF angle anymore.
