I don't like Duke as a character but DN3D was quite good.
I think DNF has a couple of things over CoD/Halo. Firstly, the game isn't taking itself seriously like Halo and CoD. Those games act like they are "serious business" but DNF knows games are about fun first and foremost and seems like it will give us that in spades in it's own stupid way.
DNF also has character, something neither CoD or Halo seem to have at all. One is a generic army FPS the other is a generic Sci-Fi FPS.
DNF may not be revolutionary or a 5 star game but it looks much more interesting to play through than Halo and CoD ever did to me.
Although it's most probably something to do with everyone wanting to see if the 12 year development can give us anything other than a subpar game.
