At that time, Big Show was using different gimmicks each and every episode (i.e. Showkishi, Shogan, Shonan the Barbarian, Big Showboski, etc.).

None of those gimmicks can be 'portayed' in a serious way.......but even then, Big Show was getting popped big time. The fans were VERY receptive when he defeated Angle that year.

With the "Showberg" gimmick, you can get seriousness and comedy at the same time.

It's an upgrade from Raw's "Eugene"...........and we can see how big Eugene's reactions have been of late.


Basically - I think Big Show needs a 'character refreshment' of sorts. At a time when casual fans NEED a reason to tune into Smackdown, I think this could be a decent way.
