This. The concept of the cage was to stop inteference or to stop the heel from running away from the match and to those ends the match should end in a pinfall/submission.

I guess you can look at escape matches in 2 ways: you have to beat your opponent so bad that you can escape the cage or the winner is simply walking/running away from the fight.

I think from a logic standpoint there has to be a pinfall/submission finish. Otherwise, your int he territory of a Strap Match - what do you prove by beating a guy by touching all 4 corners?
