This article inspired a conversation between a fellow Twins fan and myself about whether or not Minnesota will re-sign Jim Thome, who his suitors will be, and how much he'll get next year.

I'm guessing (completely arbitrarily, mind you) that we'll offer him about 6.5 for 1 year or 10 for 2 and not get the deal done because Tampa or some other team will offer him more money. I'm basing this on the fact that we have been paying Nick fucking Punto 4 mil a year for the last 2 years, and unless the Twins do the unthinkable and exercise their 5 mil option for punto next season, they'll have that money off the books.
What do you guys think will happen with Thome this offseason?
