Pedro Feliciano appeared in his 89th game last night, breaking the Mets' record for appearances for a third straight year. God damn. And with 6 games to go, he'll probably find himself in at LEAST 3 more.
They have a tricky situation with him this offseason. Some sites are saying he'll be a Type A free agent and others are saying he'll be a Type B. Either way, the Mets would have to offer him arbitration which would probably guarantee him a salary of around $3.5-4 million. That's damn good money for a lefty specialist, so I can't see him turning that down.
Likewise, I'm not sure the Mets are going to want to pay that much for him especially with the 2011 payroll pretty much already at this year's level. Even though I worry that his arm may fall off, I think it's worth the risk. If he stays, you'll get a huge bullpen piece back. If he goes, you'll also get something back. Although if he's Type A I have a hard time seeing anybody sacrifice their first round pick for him, meaning he'd just come back for cheap.
