A History of Violence and Road To Perdition were two of the ones I was thinking of. Also American Splendor, Ghost World, some others I probably can't think of right now.
The most recent would be Red.
I suppose Scott Pilgrim, 30 Days of Night, and even 300 aren't really great example of not being "extraordinarily-set" since they have their supernatural elements, but they're also not really superhero comics either.

I'm sure others are in development, or that I've completely overlooked.
I really wish they'd make Maus. It would probably be computer animated a la Pixar, but it might also be interesting to see it made in the style of Fantastic Mr. Fox
