Mike Piazza's home run against the Braves 10 days after 9/11
First sporting event/major public gathering in NY since the tragedy. The crowd was really quiet a good deal of the game, everybody was kind of paranoid and hesitant.
Then Piazza cracked one late in the game to give the Mets the lead and it lifted the crowd and there weren't many dry eyes in attendance. Even Chipper Jones said it was the only game in his career that he didn't mind losing.
