Except that SmackDown! has been PG for years. The stuff that made them popular hurt the entire industry as a whole because of all the negative attention their stuff was getting. The WWE is so synonymous with wrestling that anyone bringing up the word during that supposed Golden Age would most likely have been met with 'Oh, that X-rated garbage?' And it's not like Hogan and Savage and DiBiase and Andre and all the rest didn't help make wrestling huge during another major kid-friendly era. Of all the faults the WWE has, this PG stuff isn't at the top of the list.
