Jon Fitch has never really been cared about in the UFC. He had to win six straight fight in the UFC before he got a chance to fight in the main card of a UFC PPV. When he did lucky for him he fought Diego Sanchez who is virtually impossible to have a boring fight with at UFC 76. Based off that he was basically made #1 contender (he fought Chris Wilson before GSP but that was a glorified tune up fight).
After he fought GSP at UFC 87 (and won fight of the night) he has beaten 5 UFC welterweight including Paulo Thiago and Thiago Alves. Now after winning 5 straight fights you'd think he'd have earned a re-match with GSP but no... But he should be fighting someone in the top 10 of welterweight... well not that either. He is schedualed to fight Jake Ellenberger at UFC 126.
Why?
He's boring. He's an incredible fighter with a fantastic skill set. But he's boring. You can try as you might to explain to people how talented he is. But he's boring. You can list all the fighters he's beaten. But he's boring. You can state that his only loss in the UFC is against it's welterweight champion. But he's boring. Maybe Dana doesn't like that he won't fight Josh Koscheck. But he's boring. Dana doesn't like like his refusal to fight Kos, but Fitch would most likely beat Koscheck anyway. But he's boring. Fitch has earned a shot at the title. But he's boring. Fitch could still take on fighters like Serra, Hughes, Koscheck, BJ Penn (at Welterweight), Martin Kampmann and Jake Shields. But he's boring. So you cannot market any of those fights to get people to watch because no matter how good Fitch is (and he's damn good) people will just say... But he's boring.
