Frankly, Rock Band, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Burnout Paradise have it right. Support your fucking games. Keep that DLC coming until you've got the next game out.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 have plenty of DLC supporting the games and keeping them interesting after the initial sales window closes. Then long after the games have come out but far before the next one hits, you get the game of the year edition with the DLC included. That is a friendly way to combat the used market.

Rock Band (meaning the series here) and Burnout Paradise are prime examples of how you treat the consumer:

"Thanks for buying Rock Band 2, here's 20 free songs."

"Oh, changing discs sucks? No prob, Bob. We can't make it free, but here now all your RB1 songs are in RB2. Don't worry we'll keep it cheap"

"So glad you like all our DLC you spent money on, here now it carries over to the next game"

"Glad you like our cars. Oh, btw, here are bikes FOR FREE"

"Not enough? Here's some massive tweaks and a free car pack from time to time mixed in with these paid DLC additions"

Yeah, and don't get at me with the expensive horse armour or the paid local multiplayer. Local MP was never intended for this shit, considering how much they poured into online. And it's fucking horse armour. You don't need it, so don't lose sleep over it.
