Of course, the entire bullshit with Triple H's bulldog was a bit too much but that didn't mean Jericho was booked as fucking worthless. He won the title thanks to Vince McMahon and Booker T., but he beat Rock and Austin at RR and NWO to build him up to take on the red-hot returning Triple H at WrestleMania. Chris Jericho was a chickenshit heel, and he was booked as one. He was still UNDISPUTED CHAMPION and coming off the hottest 4 months of his career. Quit acting like it fucking ruined his career because it didn't. Chris Jericho never needed the championship to be an over main event star and he proved it over the next 3 years. He proved it again when he returned and got the title reigns because he was in a spot where he had to carry the company.

I didn't say it ruined his career but it certaintly set him back. Jericho was hardly a main event star over the next 3 years (2002-2005). He was mostly a midcarder, feuding over the IC Title, and most of his PPV main events were Elimination Chamber matches that involved 5 other people. He was rarely a focal point in WWE. Jericho didn't really become an established main event player again until 2008.
I was always thought the building of the WM18 main event sucking was a widely accepted opinion. I think your love for Triple H is blinding you.
