Though I do agree that it's for merchandising, this is a load of shit for two reasons.

1. You didn't see AS MANY, but there were CERTAINLY people with replicas throughout the crowd prior to the spinner. And the foam ones, too.

2. Before the spinner the titles were more expensive and were more rare. You could only order them from the magazines or online. Now they're sold at shows.

Also, my supermarket sells the IC, old school tag and WHC. I have actually not seen the spinner.

ALSO, all the replicas (not counting the toy belts) come in kid sizes, and have for a long time. Pre-spinner I believe.
