If anything I feel like he's been singled out at times for not being pretentious.

Everything up through the Tim Robbins sequence was fantastic. Then they sort of just stumble into a happy ending.
On the whole I don't understand why a lot of people pan that entire movie.
I'm a geek so I had issues with the clothes not getting zapped and the camcorders working (fuck the Japanese explanation!).

Also, just couldn't buy Tom Cruise as that character. I couldn't do it. He didn't help with all his scientology nonsense that he was screaming about at the time.
