I think among their peers, people respect Jeff Hardy more. Sure he's a fuck up, but professionally, he still got the job done and won the big one
As for Matt, his peers probably think he's a "sucker" and "sucker for love". He got played by Lita, and although you can sympathyse for him, it still makes him look like a sucka. He doesn't get it, and doesn't come off as the superior man. This made Edge into a bonafied main eventer. But it's okay, Matt Hardy will never die!
