Columbus Nova buys out Harmonix from Viacom and MTV Studios for an undisclosed amount and years.

As part of the deal, Viacom and MTV Studios gave away the Rock Band and Dance Central properties for Harmonix to own. The new owners have also green lighted Harmonix to continue working on both series for future releases.

Harmonix is expected to stay as an independent studio but with Columbus Nova as their main distributor. CN not expected to actually be involved in game development or company decisions as part of the new deal. It would be similar to Ubisoft and EA only being distributors for games from Japan (Ubi) or Valve (EA).

In other news, people started to compare the videos and graphics of PS3's version of Mass Effect 2 to the older Xbox 360 version and found out the Xbox 360 version looks better.

Of course, the differences are marginal and based on what you use for comparisons but it does show EA can't do a clean port of the game while the ME3 engine does have some differences when used to port the previous games in the series.
