Well, let me explain myself here so I don't come off like a huge shithead. Edge is extremely understated as a great in the attitude era and in this power era we've been in as well. He can do comedy, he can do drama, he can pull well written angles off to a T, he can make shoddily written angles look legitimate, he can interact with any type of wacky character on-screen and make it look good, he can work a spot fest, he can work a technical wrestling showcase, and his drive to succeed is through the roof.
That said, he isn't Jake. I might come off a little biased as I grew up knowing that Jake and Savage were the two greatest wrestlers of all time; a thought that I still have to this day. To compare... Jake never had the drive that Edge has, he rarely completely obsessed himself with angles or individual matches, he didn't meticulously script his promos, and he often let his personal life interfere with his professional life. He was just just intelligent and extremely good at what he did. He knew how to captivate people one night and make them want to slit his throat the next. Nobody ever mastered the face/heel dynamic the way that Jake did and I'm not sure anybody ever will again. When a typical heel cut a promo, it made you not like that person. When Jake cut a heel promo, it made you uncomfortable to think that a man like that could actually exist. When a typical face cut a promo, it made you rally behind that person. When Jake cut a face promo, it made you want to physically leave your house and fight by his side. Jake just knew people, maybe a little too well. He knew what their reactions would be to almost every situation imaginable and it made him a master crowd manipulator. Not just in promos, but in the ring as well.
Hope this helps somewhat.
