Looks like the Chara issue is going to become a bigger issue for the NHL.

Air Canada wants to end its sponsorship of the NHL and the NHL responded that if they want out, the NHL will cancel its bookings with the airliner and find a new one.

If Air Canada decides to drop its sponsorship, it also looses exemption rights for flights in the US due to US laws not allowing foreign airlines to operate just in the US.
