Agreed with dropping the ball. Having him start up his "Fortunate Son" gimmick was a good idea. Searching for a Virgil was a decent start, and getting Virgil himself was solid as well. Then they rushed everything and he just kind of got tossed aside.
He should have had Virgil with him far longer than he did, having Virgil assist him in winning matches as a distraction while Ted took advantage. Adding the Dream Street side russian leg sweep into a camel clutch-like manuever would have been great as well. Faces tapping out to a heel helps get them over as a bit more legit.
But no, they dropped Virgil for Maryse in the blink of an eye, with zero build and zero payoff. If anything, adding Maryse should have led to either Ted winning even more so than he was and getting a decent upper mid card run to oppose Morrison, or losing momentum after dropping Virgil, and ultimately building to dump Maryse.
There is still a chance, since Ted is so young. But they need to get his character going pronto.
