"Stand back" makes perfect sense. It's something that people said all the time in old movies or comics when something dangerous or powerful or whatever was coming. You wanted to stand back so you could see it, but not get too close and get hurt. Nobody ever said "stay in the back," which essentially means either stand in the back of a crowd so you can't see anything, or like you were saying, staying in the back room and cowering. "Stand back" is sort of another way of saying "watch out." "Stay in the back" is labeling you as a wuss.
And again, listen to any of Hurricane's promos when he says it. He always,
ALWAYS, says "Stand back," so again, why would his catchphrase be any different in the theme music?
