Rey's not fairly young for an athlete. Especially one who's had a lot of high risk years. Sure, he's not in a "real" sport, but he's been a constant performer, including days as a hardcore wrestler and effectively a stuntman. No combination of the above is good for longevity, which is why you see athletes and performer retire so early relative to others. Hell, it was only a couple years ago people were talking about Batista being too old to be a franchise, and he wasn't even 40 at the time. Nor did he have anything resembling the strain of Rey's career.

36 isn't ancient, but he's past the "spring chicken" stage for a wrestler, sports star, or other high performance occupation.

And I mean, yeah, some wrestlers wrestle til they're 104 (Flai), but that doesn't change much.
