I love Halo simply because its the most fun FPS game I have ever played, in both single player and multiplayer. Its hardly ground breaking, but its still a lot of fun to play.
Timespliiters 2 is the best multiplayer FPS around? I just couldn't get into that. I went out and bought it on the day it was released, took it back not long after. The Monkey kicked ass in multiplayer though.
