Despite K-Rod saying a few weeks ago that he'd be open to being a set-up guy for a contender...Boras on his first day of the job says there is "no chance" he would go for that. And no team would trade for the guy with that huge vesting option sitting there.
Soooooo basically the Mets are stuck paying him $17.5 million next year since any attempts to not pitch him/release him/etc. will result in a massive grievance that forces them to pay up the money anyway.
I'd try to see if they can get him to spread out the money over 2 years or something...since that's a retarded amount of money for a closer to make (thanks Omar) and would single-handedly eliminate what little chance they had of re-signing Reyes.
