I do wish Shaw's henchmen had been even slightly fleshed out, Mystique joining Mags at the end (and Angel joining Shaw) seemed muddled and unmotivated, and Beast's makeup was...well, slightly suspect. But those are minor gripes. Really good flick.

Love how everyone was pretty much shitting all over this flick for a year based on the scantest details, and now everyone's singing it's praises as possibly the best X-flick. Fanboys gonna fanboy, I guess.

Seriously though...

SPOILER: show
Riptide and Azazel as henchmen for Shaw? Weirdest combo ever. I bet 99%of the moviegoers had no clue who those guys are.

The starting line up of X-Men only having 1 of the original 5? Really?

Characters of different ages and eras in the history brought together as teenagers. It made no sense.

There were a lot of ambitious changes to the source material here. Couple that with the last 2 X-men films and you can't really be surprised that people were worried.

I'll argue this point to death: changes to the source material when making movies is par for the course. You're going from one format to another and some things (like bright spandex costumes or characters from alternate universes in this case) are just not always going to work in film. I get that. However, breaking away from the source material here and there is a slippery slope to change for the sake of change, which leads to losing what made the original material so good to its fans in the first place.
