I think Punk's taking a Jericho type break (as in the first time.) He'll come back to wrestling because he loves wrestling, and sadly his art reaches the most people where he's at now. I know it won't go down in any spectacular way, and Chavo's probably right on with how the match is gonna end, but for perfect booking they should do it this way (in my opinion):
Heels win both MiTB matches. The main event comes up, and it's allotted a nice chunk of time, but not too much because we all know what happens when Cena gets too much time. Vince winds up at ringside to see Cena tap to the Vice. Vince immediately fires Cena and says that he expected that to happen.
Cue the Raw MiTB winner's music. After another hard fought battle Punk pulls out the win, and Vince is irate. "Alright.. I kind of expected that too." Cue the SD! MiTB winner's music as Vince pulls his shirt and jacket off to reveal a referee shirt. This match ends with Punk's opponent laid out after taking the GTS and Vince refuses to make the count. Punk grabs the belt and leaves through the crowd.
The next night on Raw Vince announces that since Punk didn't finish the last match he's being stripped of the title. Vince announces a tournament that will end at Summerslam to crown a new WWE champion. Cena is thrown into the tournament due to his rematch clause with the stipulation that if he loses he wont be back. The Rock costs Cena the win at Summerslam but makes it a point to let Vince know that their match at Mania is going down or there's gonna be someone sued.
So with this scenario we get: A new WWE title. John Cena gets a vacation until Wrestlemania (hopefully). And most importantly a way for Punk to come back when he so desires that doesn't make the whole thing seem retarded: He's the real WWE Champion. When he comes back Vince could state that Punk got everything he wanted to come back, and strip the reigning champion to give the new belt to Punk, which gives him a feud when he comes back.
